women-of-the-year

Since 1947, Junior League of Stark County has been shining a spotlight on women in our community – the difference makers, leaders and heroes – who have shared their time, talent and resources to help the underserved, improve our communities and inspire other women to achieve their greatest potential.

The application deadline has passed for this year.

A summary of past recipients can be found here.

Considering the uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 virus and social distancing orders for large gatherings that are in place, the 73rd annual Women of the Year luncheon initially scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2020 has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2020. The luncheon will take place at the Historic Onesto Event Center with doors opening at 11:00 am and the program starting at 11:30 am. The cost for the luncheon will be $38.00/person.

The Junior League of Stark County remains committed to acknowledging Leadership. Excellence. Generosity. Commitment to others. These are the qualities we admire in others and strive to embody in our own lives.  We are excited to inform you that the Seventy-Third Annual Women of the Year event is moving forward on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Historic Onesto Event Center. The doors will open at 11:00AM with the lunch & presentation starting at 11:30AM.

During life with COVID-19, we recognize that we need to adjust accordingly. To ensure minimal contact amongst each other, we will be limiting attendance to 120 people. We will have additional space for social distancing at lunch with only six guests per a table. Attendees are requested to wear masks during registration. Additionally, we are encouraging members to fill tables of six (6) when possible to help us follow our added COVID precautions. Partial table reservations will still be accepted. There will be no shared eating tools at the tables and all lunches will be served by Dishes By Design.

We hope you will grab five of your closest Junior League friends and join us to honor Lorraine Murphy, Junior League Woman of the Year Community Award winner, for her unique and lasting volunteer contributions in many parts of the greater Stark County community. And, Judy Provo as our Junior League Woman of the Year President’s Award winner for her significant volunteer contributions in one area of the greater Stark County community.
